STEFFI DREWES

Every room leaves

a ripple effect

tick tock tumbleweed

the spells we cast

on common objects

tinted sand or hand gestures

Iā€™m counting on you

feeling more or less myself

telescopic and clinging

to father daughter logic

the presence of fire

or piling of stones

writing      ritual      futility

sounds like all our inklings

no longer in such a hurry

to name it

Steffi Drewes is the author of the poetry collection Tell Me Every Anchor Every Arrow (Kelsey Street Press) and four chapbooks, including New Animal (Dancing Girl Press) and Cartography Askew (speCt! books). She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
